Nadiah Bamadhaj is born in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, and resides in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. She works with sculpture, site-specific installation, digital video, and print. Recently her works focus on the social intricacies of life within Indonesian society, with uses of figure, flora and fauna, batik motif, mythology, and architecture to articulate her observations. She also writes, teaches, and is a board member of Yayasan Kebaya that takes care of homeless individuals with HIV/AIDS.
